I recently picked up my Vanhat Tanssit (old dances) DVD from school. Here I have posted 3 of the dances from the first performance (for parents/family in our school's upper gym).
There were two groups of dancers, and we were in the second group. So, there are twice as many dancers as you see in this video! During the dance, we are arranged in 2 circles. I am dancing with my partner, Tiina Lehti, in the inner circle. She's wearing a light purple dress, and I'm relatively tall, so see if you can spot us! Unfortunately there are not many good shots of us since we are a little insulated by the outer circle.
My favourite dance: Salty Dog Rag
Pas de Quatre
Cicapo (sorry it cuts off, but it takes forever to rip/trim these clips for some reason :/)
Learning and performing these dances was awesome. It's a fantastic Finnish tradition, and I felt I fit in perfectly. So, when I danced, I WAS Finnish, and that's what Exchange is all about.
