Levi is a small town but is a huge tourist attraction. The downhill skiing here is likely the best in Finland, and there are world-level skiing events held here all the time. On the map below, Levi is just left of center. Last time I was in Lapland, with Rotary in November, I was in Muonio, only 60 km northwest from Levi. Also, both of my current host parents are from Kittilä, south of Levi. We have visited many grandparents and relatives there already.
As I said, we are living in a cabin for the week, like almost every other tourist here. There are extensive cabin neighbourhoods scattered around the mountain of Levi. Well, it´s not really a mountain... in Finnish it is called tunturi and it´s basically a small mountain with very few or no trees on the top. These tunturis make up the landscape of Lapland, the Finnish arctic.
There are two other exchange students in Levi for the week as well, Juan from Mexico and Kathleen from America. I have spent time with them as well as my host family. We have been spending our time downhill skiing, cross country skiing, visiting family and watching movies in the cabin at night. We also have our two dogs and cat with us, so it is a little crowded.
I already have some fantastic photos, but they will have to wait until we get home since I don´t have my laptop or card reader with me! So check again on Sunday to see some amazing Lapland photos!

Three things that came to my mind at this time (01.27, I don't jaksaa mennä nukkumaan). I'll write about them in a non-chronological order.
2: Give me a call when you get back to the centre on civilization (Lahti). I wanna jam and bad. Plus I read your reply to my comment and yes, we have to record a sick jam! I heard that you're having a music course where you record material, maybe there? Anyway, give me a call.
1: I have to say from my past experiences that Levi is the best laskettelupaikka In Finland. Many fond memories from there, but the slopes (are they slopes?) are the best in Finland. Have fun up there!
3: I have decided for you that you have to learn two song with the drums: The Mars Volta - Son Et Lumiere & The Mars Volta - Intertiatic ESP. Some crazy drumwork there.

Simo here. Again the same night! But there's a reason for that. Knowing that I'm a bit of a perfectionist, I just have to correct two grammar mistakes (god I hope the right word is grammar). I was supposed to say centre OF civilization, I said on. Annoying :( And the second mistake, one IF the best places though it should be of. No more comments to this post, I swear :D
Hey Dante! Just checking out your site! Glad to hear to are having and awesome time in Finland. We had your mom and dad over at my house for dinner last Saturday, they were tooting your horn pretty good! I heard that you wrote a sic song! Sometime when I get high speed internet I'll give it a listen! Just wanted to wish you well and to remind you to savour every incredible moment over there. See you in July.
